Counterfeit parts are a growing problem within our industry. The authorized supply chain has long prided itself as the safest source of parts because there is a direct link from the manufacturer to the distributor to the customer. However, there are some opportunities for counterfeit parts to enter our supply chain or for our excess parts to contribute to the counterfeit parts problem.

 

Purpose – Identify excess inventory practices in the supply chain, benchmark the industry on how they handle and process this inventory, and create an industry best practices document.

 

Expectations/Deliverables – Best practices which will help companies understand the potential negative effects of mishandling excess inventory and give those companies that don’t currently have excess inventory processes and procedures a guideline to follow.
